Barefoot Jax: Mark, Ferni, Erich, & Robert

Sometimes I’m embarrassed when I learn of a local band I should have known about earlier – especially when they’ve been recording for 10 years and have more than 90 original songs to their credit.

Maybe I’ve been in the dark about this group for so long because they’ve been quietly writing and recording, but haven’t had a gig yet. Yeah, I know… But that’s about to change tomorrow.

The band is called Barefoot Jax and I think you’re going to like them. They’re having their first gig ever tomorrow before the big game (Super Bowl Sunday), but before I give you the details, let me tell you a little bit more about the band because you’re going to be hearing a lot more from them.

For the last 10 years, the band has been creating and recording their own music – producing over 90 songs with 4 albums under their belt. Barefoot Jax was ranked in the top 10 in the Miami Reverbnation Rock Charts for about six months or so, peaking to No. 3 a little less than a year ago.

“Crank” was their first album with rock n’ roll tunes such as She’s a Killer, Dogman, Agora and We’re Gonna Win – followed by 3 more albums (A lot Obliged, Leaving Tracks and The Legend of Skinny on the Flip.)

ComScoreAs a big supporter of local bands in Miami, I’m thrilled to discover these guys because original music should never be kept a secret.

The band is composed of Ferni D on drums and vocals, with Mark Johnston on rhythm guitar and vocals, Erich Greiner on lead guitar and vocals, and Robert Gonzalez on bass and vocals.

While Barefoot Jax has been known more for their studio recordings at Ferni D’s Bamboo Studio, they are anxiously looking forward to performing live and connecting with their fans at gigs, concerts, festivals and even private shows.

The First Gig–> On February 5th, 2012 (Super Bowl Sunday) Barefoot Jax debuts at Woodys West End Tavern in Miami Springs.
