Happy Anniversary Mantrap

Happy 2 Year Anniversary to Mantrap - Reunited December 11, 2009.

On December 11th an unprecedented event took place at Club Renaissance here in Miami. I took my video camera with me and recorded an amateur video I think you’ll want to see.

It took me a while to edit the video because I’ve been very busy, but yesterday I realized that if you don’t see this video today you won’t know what you missed. This coming Friday, February 19th you’ll have one last chance to relive what many of us who were there enjoyed that night.

If you miss it you’ll hate yourself for it, so save the date because it’s only days away... Here’s what I mean…

The event I am referring to was called “Back To The Days Of The Open House.” The band was Mantrap and let me tell you something, they delivered on their promise to take us back to the Miami of the 70’s.

It’s hard to describe what we experienced that evening. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you it was magical. Mantrap pulled it off! It’s that simple. You’ll have another opportunity to experience what we enjoyed that evening. I promise you will cherish it for ever, but you must act now.

Here’s what’s happening…

The event was such a success that Club Renaissance asked Mantrap to come back for a second performance. I wish I could tell you that you’ll have many opportunities to see Mantrap do this again, but the only time I can guarantee it for sure is this coming Friday night, February 19th at 9 PM.

I’m not surprised Club Renaissance wants Mantrap back one more time. You should have seen the line to get in. I’ve been to the club many times, but I had never seen a line that long, so you’ll want to get there early.

That night the energy was vibrant and you could see the excitement on everybody’s face. If you want to relive the open house era of the 70’s in Miami you have to get over there and see Mantrap perform live one more time.

Please feel free to leave a comment below. I’d love to hear from you.

And remember… Don’t miss your only chance to see Mantrap perform live again this Friday night at Club Renaissance. The club is located at 2340 SW 32nd Ave. in Miami. Tell all your friends and lets PARTY!

Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the upcoming events. Sign up now to be among the first to get the latest on the MusicMiami.org happenings. Just enter your Name and E-mail address below..

They sound great!!! I am the original singer for Mantrap and recorded the Disco Fantasy album and the first version of Suavecito. I love these guys and Nelson was more than the leader of the band, he was my best friend.
I recently reconnected with him and I’m so happy to see that you are all keeping the memories alive.
It was a special time in our youth. Most of us trying to find our way. We clung to our music and ethnicity with all our might. It was a source of strength and pride for us all.

God bless you all.
Love,
Emilio

EMILIO IS CORRECT,
WE WERE VERY CLOSE FRIENDS AND MORE LIKE BROTHERS. WE MISS HIM TERRIBLY AND HE HAS PROMISED TO MAKE TIME TO VISIT SOUTH FLORIDA AND SEE ME. MANTRAP WAS A WAY OF LIFE FOR ALOT OF US GROWING UP. I AM HAPPY THAT WE HAVE THE BAND TOGETHER AGAIN. EVERY MEMBER THAT EVER PLAYED IN MANTRAP IS SPECIAL TO US AND WILL ALWAYS BE A MEMBER OF MANTRAP.

Frank, you really outdid yourself with the Beautiful Video of our performance on December 11th, 2009. Yes, it was a very special night and of course are really looking forward to our next performance on Friday the 19th of February. We are also in the process of completing our “LOST MEMORIES” CD which hopefully will be finished in the coming month of March. Again, thanks for all the heartfelt comments and all your support.

Miguel, thank you for the kind words. I wanted to get the video posted before Mantraps’ next performance this Friday. I just wanted to make sure the people that didn’t make it on December 11th could see what they missed and come on February 19th. We had a blast hearing you guys perform. It really did feel like an Open House. I’ve already said this but it’s worth repeating. You guys really delivered what you promised… To take us back and relive the days of the Miami Open House. Everything was just right that night. The universe was aligned and everything just fell into place. Or so it seemed because I know it wasn’t easy pulling off an Open House after so many years. I can’t wait to hear the CD. I’ll see you Friday (February 19th) at 9 PM.

MANTRAP HAS THEIR ORIGINAL DRUMMER BACK IN THE BAND. ALBERT QUINTANA REJOINED MANTRAP AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES. ALBERT STILL HAS THE DRUMS THAT HE USED WITH MANTRAP BACK IN THE 70’S. THIS EVENT WILL BE MUCH BETTER THAN THE DECEMBER 11, 2009 SHOW. WE ARE ANTICIPATING A MUCH LARGER CROWD FOR THIS EVENT. THANK YOU FRANK FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND FRIENDSHIP. YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND. SEE YOU FRIDAY, FEB 19.

THANK YOU FRANK FOR ATTENDING OUR EVENT ON FEB 19, 2010. YOU LOOKED LIKE YOU REALLY ENJOYED THE MUSIC VERY MUCH. I HOPE THAT AGAIN WE DELIVERED ON OUR PROMISE TO TAKE EVERYONE BACK TO THE OPEN HOUSE NIGHTS WITH OUR MUSIC. HOPE YOU ALSO LIKED OUR SONGS FROM THE UPCOMING LOST MEMORIES CD. WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND HAVING FORMER MANTRAP MEMBERS IN THE AUDIENCE MADE THE NIGHT SPECIAL.

I WANT TO THANK MAYRA AND YOU FRANK FOR AGAIN COMING OUT TO SEE MANTRAP. I HOPE THAT WE FULFILLED OUR PROMISE OF TAKING YOU BACK TO THE OPEN HOUSES. I CAN STILL REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST READ YOUR WEB PAGE HOW YOU TALKED ABOUT ONE DAY GETTING THE BANDS REUNITED AND DOING WHAT WE DID. GOD MUST HAVE HEARD YOU MY BROTHER BECAUSE WE WERE ABLE TO DO IT.

WHAT WE HAVE NOTICED IS THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE NEED THESE TYPE OF EVENTS IN THEIR LIVES. WE HAD NO IDEA HOW MANY FANS MANTRAP HAD AND HOW MANY SONGS WE PLAY TOUCH THEIR HEARTS. WE HAD SOME FANS IN TEARS WHEN WE PLAYED DIAS COMO HOY AND OURSUAVECITO MEDLY.

WE WERE VERY PROUD OF THE OUTCOME ON OUR LAST PERFORMANCE. OUR ORIGINAL DRUMMER ALBERT REALLY CAME THROUGH FOR US AND MADE US SOUND VERY GOOD. WE ARE VERY HAPPY THAT HE IS BACK. WE ARE CONCENTRATING ON COMPLETING THE CD. WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO COMPLETING IT. WHEN WE DO, WE WILL DO A CD RELEASE PARTY AND YOU ARE MORE THAN INVITED TO ATTEND. YOU ARE OUR FRIEND.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PROMOTIONS AND FOR THE SUPPORT.

Nelson, I’m not surprised people getting emotional listening to Dias Como Hoy and Suavecito. I always love hearing Dias Como Hoy, but I got to tell you that Suavecito gave me goose bumps when you guys started playing it. I thought you guys sounded good in December, but this second time around I was blown away. You can feel the harmony among the band members. You guys sounded like a band that’s been together for a while. Danny Jimenez kicked ass on the guitar that night. But the most memorable thing of both events was how you guys helped us relive that era. Even the lighting you guys used added to the nostalgia. I think you got the thanking all wrong. It’s those of us who were there who thanks Mantrap for doing what most people thought would never happen. THANK YOU!

HI FRANK,
JUST WANTED TO INFORM OUR FANS THAT MANTRAP HAS BEEN INVITED TO RETURN AGAIN TO CLUB RENAISSANCE, 2340 SW 32 AVE ON MAY 14, 2010. SEEMS THAT THE FANS CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THE MUSIC AND THE MEMORIES OF THOSE GREAT OPEN HOUSE YEARS THAT MANTRAP PERFORMS.

WE THANK ALL OUR FANS AND FRIENDS WHO KEEP ASKING THE CLUB TO BRING BACK MANTRAP FOR ANOTHER OPEN HOUSE NIGHT. WE WILL BE PLAYING NEW SONGS FROM THE OPEN HOUSE ERA AND FROM OUR UPCOMING CD. THE CD IS ALMOST DONE, THEN COMES THE PRODUCTION PART WHICH IS NOT AN EASY ONE BUT IT WILL GET DONE. OUR FANS ARE VERY EAGER FOR THIS CD TO COME OUT AND SO ARE WE. WE PROMISE THAT EVERY SONG IS A LOST MEMORY TREASURE.

THIS CD IS NOT ONE WHERE YOU WOULD SKIP SONGS TO GET TO ONE OR TWO SONGS THAT ARE THE FEATURED SONGS. EVERY SONG ON THIS CD YOU WILL WANT TO LISTEN TO OVER AND OVER AGAIN,

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN ON MAY 14, AT CLUB RENAISSANCE.
