Coke and The Warlocks Open House on June 18th, 2011.

On June 18th Miami will witness what promises to be the mother of Open Houses this year.  Let me tell you why this Open House is so special.

One of the premier bands of the Open House era – COKE – reunited last year and performed with MANTRAP on August 14th. This became known as one of the most – if not THE most  – successful Open Houses of 2010.

Now COKE is doing it again on June 18th, this time teaming up with The Warlocks – the band of the era no other band could come close to.

These are not my words, this has been said by the actual musicians of the other bands who shared the stage with them back in the day.

Back in the mid 60’s five young musicians (still in Junior High School) were playing music as well as anyone and they quickly became a force in the Miami Music Scene of the 60’s.

The Warlocks

The crowds as well as the other bands of the era loved The Warlocks becouse they would sound just like the original artists.

The “Warlocks” became the most popular band of their era.  A great sound, impeccable harmonies and two of the best front men of that time, Renny Tirador and Henry “El Flaco” Serra, who could sing “Billy Stewart” songs like no other, quickly made them the crowds favorite.

The “Warlocks” could be seen performing at most if not every “Quince Party” in South Florida.  They became pioneers of the Open House movement performing at some of the most popular Halls in Miami including, Hungarian Hall, Fireman’s Hall, Electricians Hall, Belen Jesuit, The Place, The World, and at the first concert ever given at the Jai Alai Fronton and at Hialeah’s own Municipal Auditorium,.

The “Warlocks” are now reuniting after 40 years to perform at the “Blast From the Past Open house” on June 18th with all the original members: Founding member Anthony (Tony) Robledo on drums, Robert Gonzalez on bass and lead vocals, Renny Tirador on lead vocals, Victor (Cuqui) Berrios on keyboards and lead vocals. The only original member missing is the late Ricky Murciano (Lead Guitarist) R.I.P.  Also, performing are Warlock members Dennis Sierra on guitar and vocals and Henry Serra on lead vocals. Other Warlock alumni will be performing as special guests.
