You don’t want to miss the upcoming FREE concert featuring three of our great local bands of the 70’s. This reunion concert is taking place in Pembroke Pines on Friday, February 18th, 2011.

This past year many of you have asked what happened to The Warlocks. Well, here’s your opportunity to enjoy World of Matter, Hemlock and The Warlocks in a FREE concert performing together for a great cause.

This concert/dance is dedicated to Glen (Bob) Hertlein, who was World of Matter’s manager, mentor and father! Bob is fighting Leukemia, so you’ll see a donation box for The Luekemia & Lymphoma Society of South Florida.

Admission to the concert/dance is FREE, but a donation to the LLS would be greatly appreciated.

All the details are on the flyer below.

Don't miss this great FREE concert with World of Matter, Hemlock and The Warlocks.

Drummer Dan Hertlein[SIDE NOTE:]
I have a soft spot in my heart for drummers because I’m a drummer “wanna be”. If you enjoy drums as much as I do you’ll want to check out Dan Hertlein’s website. He also has a YouTube Channel.

Below is a clip from July 2005 of Dan Hertlein playing and singing Josie with Mixed Nuts. I’ve always been fascinated by drummers who can play and sing at the same time. Enjoy!

Thank you Frank for posting the information on this show, done for a good cause at a great price, with original musicians and no EGOS, unlike others being held this weekend. This is one I will definitely attend.

There were other miami local bands, quinceaneras, The Living Legends, where Jorge el “Sapo” worked at Shell City and got killed in a forklift accident. Do you remember Shell Citry on 56 street and NW 7 avenue. Also Binder Baldwin had a Battle of the bands, and The shuffling Kind, 5 too many, etc where all there. Is Cookie still around and with the warlocks? and I do wish someone would give me information as to Cheby, I heard he passed away, que lastima, I played with Chebi at Miami Dade con Vincent Bredice. Best regards to those that know me. Keep playin.

There was a great rock and roll band during the time 69-73 by the name Stone Knight. Mike, played lead and my friend Luis, rhythm guitar and vocals, do not remember the other guys. They played around alot, Milander and Evil people until they got kicked out for playing too loud. Heavy duty equipment towards the end, big Marshalls. Grand Funk, Black Sabbath stuff. They also had a half hour profile that I heard on a relatively new radio station (WSHE). I will never forget the night I saw Luis threw a malfunctioning Bandmaster head into the ocean at a large Miami Beach hotel gig. (I heard he later became a cop!) All but one were Hialeah boys, If I remember.
